History
Helping Hand Day Nursery was founded in 1924 by Mrs. Von Charlton. For over 75 years, our agency has provided quality affordable childcare to working families. Mrs. Von Charlton enlisted the aid of the Community Chest today known as the United Way to supplement the Nursery's budget. The United Way is still our major source of funding.
Under the leadership of our current Executive Director, Valeric Goddard, the agency serves children infant to five years of age at four locations. They are Ybor City, Temple Terrace and two locations in the USF area. The services are provided within the framework of a child-focused and Family Centered Service Delivery System. Through a referral system, we provide various support services that encourage family resiliency.
